April 2016 – Meet the Team

When did you and Zac become a team? – In June 2012

What other partners have you had? – I have Duncan, another cairn terrier, who became a partner with me in October 2013.

In what type of facility are you visiting? – We visit Independence Hill Assisted Living and Ronald McDonald Houses.

In what other Therapy Animals activities do you and your partner participate? – We are a StoryTails team at Longscreek Elementary School. We also participate in holiday parades at a nursing home, and have participated in college de-stressors, and science day events at elementary schools. We also participate in Pooch Parade!

Tell us something about your partner that we may not know. – Zac is amazing (you knew that). He has been in remission after radiation treatments for t-cell lymphoma since September 2013, and in January had a lens replacement to restore vision in his left eye, although he has subsequently lost his vision in his right eye. He has been through a lot, but is the most optimistic, happy dog I ever had.

What Therapy Animals leadership position(s) do you currently have? – I am Chair, Therapy Team Training since 2013.

What other leadership positions have you had? – I co-chaired the 2014 and 2015 Pooch Parades.

Tell us something about yourself that we may not know. – I am very active with Guide Dogs of Texas, as a puppy sitter, and recently as a puppy raiser.
