Our Organization
Since 1989, Therapy Animals of San Antonio has been a beacon of comfort in the community. As an all-volunteer nonprofit, our mission is simple: to bring people and animals together to promote healing.
Our furry teammates visit hospitals, nursing homes, and schools, providing much-needed companionship and emotional support. Through our Story Tails literacy program, we help children develop a love of reading by pairing them with therapy animals. And when disaster strikes, our CARE program deploys specially trained teams to offer comfort and assistance in crisis situations across Texas.

Therapy Animal FAQs
A therapy dog or cat must be at least one-year-old.
Any dog of any breed or mix of breeds can be a therapy dog.
A therapy dog doesn’t have to perform any tricks or know any special commands such as “fetch.” However, therapy dogs must listen to their handlers and know basic obedience.
