The Auction was a great success … thank you San Antonio!!
Gracias San Antonio: Children Are Citizens Project is grounded in the belief that children are not just future citizens, but also are citizens of the city in the here and now, with the right to express their opinions and participate in the civic and cultural life of San
Gracias San Antonio began in November with Pre-K children’s participation in a program-wide election. Therapy Animals of San Antonio was selected as this year’s beneficiary non-profit organization to receive the 8th Annual Gracias San Antonio Auction proceeds.
Throughout the year, children and families engaged in City Explorations with their teachers to visit different places around San Antonio. Local artists joined children in a virtual or outdoor classroom to create authentic art pieces using a variety of artistic mediums to express the children’s perspective of their city.
TASA SPECIAL EVENTS
Therapy Animals of San Antonio has several special events each year for members and their families. Click on the event name below to see photos from the event.
In the spring we get together at a local park for our Animal Crackers Picnic. We enjoy good food and fellowship and play games with our dogs.
During the summer we have had “summer camp”, a series of monthly in-service sessions where we learn anything from doga (yoga with your dog), to canine massage, to pet estate planning and pet nutrition.
Our Annual Meeting combined with a Blessing of the Animals are in the fall. The Annual Meeting starts with fellowship and a catered lunch followed by a report of what we’ve done throughout the year. It is topped off with the announcement of the year’s Therapy Animals of San Antonio awards for outstanding therapy teams and supporters. Prior to lunch a local minister offers blessings for our wonderful animals who bring healing and joy to so many people.
We have previously enjoyed attending the annual San Antonio Rampage hockey team’s Pucks and Paws game as well as the WNBA’s San Antonio Stars Hoops and Hounds game. Our dogs get their own seats and follow all of the action in the arena or maybe just take a nap. You never know where we will show up!
Board Meetings: The Board meets monthly on the second or third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Meetings are a mixture of virtual and face to face. July 2021’s meeting was our first face to face meeting since Covid-19 restrictions were in place. It was held at the TASA Office and it was great to be together.
The TASA President will send an agenda and identify if the meeting is face to face or by Zoom to all members before the meeting. He will send a Zoom invitation if the meeting is virtual. All members are welcome to attend. Please contact him at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Orientation Classes are usually held the first Saturday of each month at our office. However due to Covid they are being held virtually and scheduled at the participants convenience. Once you have joined TASA as a member, please contact email@example.com if you would like to attend class and we will be happy to schedule it with you.
