(2018) Norma was a member of TASA for many years and contributed in multiple ways; always with an enthusiastic smile and genuine warmth. She and her wonderful therapy dog Shanti worked in a variety of settings with vulnerable members of our community. She helped with Pooch Parade every year, and she volunteered for presentations and other events whenever possible; while still working full time at USAA. Shanti was chosen to represent TASA at King Anbarkio for the 2018 Pooch Parade and Norma quickly and joyfully stepped into a full calendar of press and promotional appearances. Tragically, just days before the 2018 Pooch Parade, Norma died as a result of an auto accident. It was a very difficult loss for all of us, her family, and her many friends and co-workers. In the midst of their grief, Norma’s two sons stood in for her with Shanti at the Pooch Parade to honor her and in recognition for how much she enjoyed this work. No better tribute of Norma exists than the quality of the young men she raised. Many members of her USAA family also walked in the parade with special t-shirts in her honor.
