Facility Visits

For those who are no longer able to have a personal companion animal, and for those who can’t be with their companion animal for an extended period of time a visit from one of our therapy teams; a volunteer and his/her pet; can decrease anxiety and loneliness, enhance self esteem, lower blood pressure, and add spontaneous joy to an otherwise challenging or tedious day. They may also provide assistance to meet targeted learning and therapy goals as well as provide crisis support.  We currently have more than 80 teams visiting 10 counties in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living centers, rehabilitation centers, schools,  children’s shelters, libraries, bereavement centers, etc.  providing animal assisted activities and animal assisted therapy for the patients, clients, students and residents. If you would like more information on having a therapy team visit your facility, please complete our facility request form.to meet

Facility Visits Request Form

Thank you for requesting animal therapy visits from Therapy Animals of San Antonio, an all volunteer organization. Our volunteers select facilities to visit based on a number of factors including location and travel distance, days and times when visits are desired, population, and type of services to be provided. Demand for our more than 80 teams (most are dog teams, also cat teams and a rabbit) is very high.

The first step to request a team is your completion of the form below for us to obtain basic information about your facility. We will then notify our teams of your request for animal visits. If a team is available, we will call you to obtain additional information. If no team is currently available, we will maintain your facility on our list of options for new teams who join our organization.
