Traci Wilson and TexTraci Wilson and Tex

June 2016 - Meet the Team

When did you and Tex become a team? - I believe we became a team about 5 years ago.

What other partners have you had? - Tex is my first partner.

In what type of facility are you visiting? - We have been visiting Westover Hills Rehabilitation since the beginning, and started as an Ambassador team at the airport Pups and Planes program a year ago (not through TASA).

In what other Therapy Animals activities do you and your partner participate? - We are a team for new member to shadow. Since I work full-time, it is difficult to make the weekday activities.

Tell us something about your partner that we may not know. - He was a stray when I found him, and really emaciated and timid. I suspect he was mistreated by his previous owner as he had a lot of shying and fearful behaviors in the beginning. To meet him today, you would never know about his past. He is very trusting, and he doesn't seem bothered by any circumstance or person. It is funny because many people tell me he looks like a wolf, but he is so gentle and the biggest lover.

What Therapy Animals leadership position(s) do you currently have? - None.

What other leadership positions have you had? - None.

Tell us something about yourself that we may not know. - I have always loved animals and am looking forward to a day I can retire and focus full-time on working with animals and volunteering. My dream job would be something that allows me to work with animals every day; working with an organization that trains therapy animals or rehabilitates rescued or injured animals.
